<p style="text-align: justify;">The XPS extruded polystyrene is a modern insulating material. Thanks to its closed-cell internal structure, it demonstrates a number of unique features, which are particularly adaptable in the construction industry. The XPS extruded polystyrene is characterised by very good thermal insulation, resistance to humidity impact and high strength. XPS is a homogeneous construction material, characterised by a smooth surface and a structure made of small, closed cells. This structure makes it an ideal product for numerous thermal-insulating applications.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">XPS is a thermo insulating material, which has been given a shape of a board in the process of extrusion and direct blowing. It is low density foam of specific small cell structure. Product does not contain flame retardant. It is manufactured from polystyrene resin, the raw material safe for your human health and approved for use in contact with food. Product does not contain blowing agents like CFCs, (chlorfluorcarbons), HCFCs (hydrochlorfluorcarbons) or HFCs (hydrofluorcarbons).</p>

<p><strong>Storage and maintanance</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">XPS boards should be stored in free of flammable and of volatile compounds, ventilated buildings, best covered with a roof, in order to keep the boards from degradation of their surface and internal structure by the intensive sun. In case of long-term outside storage, the boards should be protected against the sun with a light-colour material. Heat sources of temperature above 75°C can melt, distort or degrade structure while in contact with XPS boards, the same way as all polystyrene-made products. XPS boards, the same way as all polystyrene-made products are flammable. In the case of exposure to open fire they can rapidly burn. That is way for each step of handling with XPS, boards should not be exposed to open fire or any different heat source.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Assemling</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">XPS boards cannot be used in direct contact with substances which act destructively on polystyrene (e.g. organic solvents like acetone, benzol, nitro-solvents…) or different specimen containing such organic compounds. For that reason it is recommended to use for assembling solventfree adhesives. Before use one should check if the adhesive is dedicated for polystyrene foam. Assembling at low temperatures requires providing adequate spacing between the boards in order to maintain proper dilatation. Producer does not declare keeping dimensional stability by XPS in conditions of temperature higher than 70° C, and at the same time ambient humidity level higher than 95%.</p>

<h2>How to install polystyrene boards</h2>
<p style="text-align: justify;">EPS boards should be applied in accordance with the best building practice and the guidelines contained in the construction design. The basic guidelines for laying the thermal insulation of floors and ceilings are as follows: make sure that the screed is flat and dry, otherwise level it out. The floors on the ground require a moisture barrier (in the form of tar paper, PE film, bituminous, water-based sealants). In ceilings between floors, apply a separating layer of PE film. Where the floor meets the wall, use an expansion jointing tape. Start laying the boards in the corner and place the first row of boards from the wall by pushing them against the expansion jointing tape. Subsequent rows should be laid in offset configuration, avoiding the crossing of board joints. When all insulation is in place (can be in two or more layers), spread a PE film with a minimum of 0.2 mm in thickness, to protect the board joints from moisture and penetration of the screed into the spaces between the EPS boards. Where water-based floor heating is used, install the heating cables with suitable clips on the boards on which the PE film is already spread. Please note that the thickness of the screed needs to be increased by the outer diameter of the floor heating cables.</p>
<h2>Packaging, storage, transport of EPS</h2>
<p style="text-align: justify;">STANDARD roof/floor boards are supplied in the original manufacturer's packaging only. The label on the packaging contains the following information: product name, manufacturer's name and factory name, production date, Standard EN 13163 number, code according to this standard, declared technical characteristics.</p>
<p>STANDARD roof/floor boards should be stored in a manner to protect them against damage and weather conditions.</p>

<h2>How to install polystyrene boards</h2>
<p style="text-align: justify;">EPS boards should be applied in accordance with the best building practice and the guidelines contained in the construction design. The basic guidelines for laying the thermal insulation of floors and ceilings are as follows: make sure that the screed is flat and dry, otherwise level it out. The floors on the ground require a moisture barrier (in the form of tar paper, PE film, bituminous, water-based sealants). In ceilings between floors, apply a separating layer of PE film. Where the floor meets the wall, use an expansion jointing tape. Start laying the boards in the corner and place the first row of boards from the wall by pushing them against the expansion jointing tape. Subsequent rows should be laid in offset configuration, avoiding the crossing of board joints. When all insulation is in place (can be in two or more layers), spread a PE film with a minimum of 0.2 mm in thickness, to protect the board joints from moisture and penetration of the screed into the spaces between the EPS boards. Where water-based floor heating is used, install the heating cables with suitable clips on the boards on which the PE film is already spread. Please note that the thickness of the screed needs to be increased by the outer diameter of the floor heating cables.</p>

The basic guidelines for laying the thermal insulation of floors and ceilings are as follows: make sure that the basis is flat and dry, otherwise flatten it. The floors on the ground require a damp proofing barrier (in form of tar paper, PE film, bituminous, water-based sealants). In case of ceilings between floors, apply a separating layer of PE film. Where the floor meets the wall, joint filler tape should be used. Start laying the boards in the corner and place the first row of boards from the wall by pushing them against the joint filler tape. Subsequent rows should be laid with staggered joints, without crossing the junctions of boards. When all insulation is in place (can be in two or more layers), spread at least 0.2 mm thick PE film to protect the boards from moisture and penetration of underlayment into the spaces between the EPS boards. Where water-based underfloor heating is used, install the heating cables with suitable board clips on which the PE film has already been spread. Please take into account that the thickness of the underlayment needs to be increased by the outer diameter of underfloor heating pipes.Do not use the EPS boards in direct contact with the substances having destructive effect on polystyrene EPS, such as organic solvents (acetone, benzene, nitro), etc.</p>
<h2>Package, storage, transportation of EPS</h2>

Where the floor meets the wall, use an expansion jointing tape. Start laying the boards in the corner and place the first row of boards from the wall by pushing them against the expansion jointing tape. Subsequent rows should be laid in offset configuration, avoiding the crossing of board joints. When all insulation is in place (can be in two or more layers), spread a PE film with a minimum of 0.2 mm in thickness, to protect the board joints from moisture and penetration of the screed into the spaces between the EPS boards. Where water-based floor heating is used, install the heating cables with suitable clips on the boards on which the PE film is already spread. Please note that the thickness of the screed needs to be increased by the outer diameter of the floor heating cables.</p>
